W04 Insight Sharing: Share It!

 This week I learned some very valuable lessons. One of them being humility. This one stood out to me because of its simplicity. Sometimes it is the easiest principles that we forget the most. In Luke 14:11 it is taught that “For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.” I think that this is so important because it seems to be very cut and dry here. If you humble yourselves, you will be exalted. Another lesson that I learned about was the parable of the good Samaritan in Luke 10:30-37. Basically, in this story this man had been abused, beaten, and left behind. A priest and Levite passed him by without helping, but a good Samaritan camp by to help. The lesson here is that you should not see yourself above others. You should stop to help others that are in need. True love and mercy means helping all.

W10 Reflection: Entrepreneurial Journal

 Something that I really liked from the first video was when he talked about how normal/regular of a guy he was and how him and his company were able to achieve great things. They were ranked in #11 the first year and #6 the second year. I really liked that he mentioned to never underestimate yourself. He said something along the lines of "if you include the Lord in your decision making, you can do the impossible". I really think that is a great statement because it can be so easy to think that we know what we are doing when we move on to the real world. He knows better than any of us what is best for each and every one of us. Something that I thought was really cool from the video "Action Hero Kath Huber" was that at MIT they had entrepreneurs come to the school and throw a problem at the students and had them help to find a solution. W09 Reflection: Entrepreneurial Journal

  The biggest thing that stuck out to me this week was Guy Kawaski’s talk. He talked about trust. I think that trust is something that has kind of gone down the drain in these last few years. I think that it becomes harder and harder to trust people every day, but I do think that there are still trustworthy people out there. He talked about the importance of trust when you are running a business. He gave examples of Amazon, Zappos, Nordstrom, and some others. I think that it is definitely an interesting concept. He talked about how people can take advantage of these companies, but they usually don’t. For example, Amazon allows you to return things like books. He said that just about anybody can read a book and return it within the allotted time, but people don’t. Amazon goes out on a limb to trust people and in turn, people trust Amazon. W14 Reflection: Entrepreneurial Journal Final Blog

  If I had to look back over the semester and find the things that stuck out to me most in all of these lessons, I would say that honesty was the biggest one. Honesty is something that I feel most businesses do not posses. A lot of people will tell small lies or they will just not tell you the full truth. They think of it as no big deal. Looking at all of the examples that were given, I think that it goes to show that honesty is going to work out best for you. There are many instances where if somebody was honest and straight up about a mistake, they would have gotten a lot less grief for it. Another thing that really stuck out to me was setting rules for myself. These rules will help me to maintain a healthy life. For example, some of the rules that I set were to be honest, don’t let work affect my marriage, keep the Lord involved in my decisions, don’t take the easy road, and many more.
