W05 Reflection: Entrepreneurial Journal

This week I have learned a lot of different things that I will apply to my entrepreneurial journey. The first of them being to follow the hero’s journey. In the readings this week I watched a video that explained what the hero’s journey meant. One of the things that I learned from that talk was that you should never give up on finding you calling. Everybody is here for a reason and it is extremely important to find what your calling is and pursue it. You should find a calling that fits your special gifts. A tip that was given to me to figure out what my special gifts are, is to talk to at least 5 different people and ask them what they think I do better than anybody else. Ask for examples, evidence, and specifics. This will help you to start thinking about how you can apply those gifts into your calling. Another thing that was pointed out was the moral code. It is so important to have a moral code of rules that you will never break. If you find yourself breaking one of those rules, it ...

W04 Reflection: Entrepreneurial Journal

This week I have learned a lot. I reviewed the notes that I took from the book “Launching Leaders” by Steven A. Hitz. Some of the things that I covered in my book report were how to develop core values, how to adopt and use mentors, how to implement habits for success, and the importance of giving back. There is so much power in developing core values that align with God’s will. I thought really hard and pondered about what my core values should be. I came up with a list that I feel really good about and I am proud of. I also reviewed how and why we should find mentors. Mentors can be somebody who helps to elevate you to the next level. They should be somebody who lives the principles that you would like to life. They should be somebody who believes in you and uplifts you whenever they can. Mentors can be such a great tool to help you achieve your dreams and goals. Another thing that is paramount to success is developing and practicing good habits. When you strive to plant seeds that a...

W03 Reflection: Entrepreneurial Journal

This week I have learned many valuable lessons. I have learned that it is extremely important to include the Lord in big decisions that you are planning to make in your life. I have learned more about the importance of ethics in the work place. In some of the study material that we were given, it was pointed out that you should always be honest in a work environment. If you do something that is wrong or deceitful, it will catch up to you. It will come to the surface sooner or later. That is why it is better to make decisions that you think are morally and ethically acceptable. This week we were given an assignment to ponder and create a personal code of conduct. I really enjoyed this assignment. I put a lot of thought and effort into this. I thought about it throughout the week and I observed and pondered some of the decisions that my coworkers have made. Some of the things that have happened at work this week have helped me to really understand the things that I find most important. O...

W02 Reflection: Entrepreneurial Journal

I think that Randy Pausch was able to achieve so many of his childhood dreams because he saw a brick wall as an opportunity to show how bad he wanted something. This mindset helped him to achieve so many of his goals because he decided that he would find a way around, above, or through that wall. Brick walls are there to stop people that don't want it as much as others. He quoted "If you lead your life the right way, the karma will take care of itself and the dreams will come to you." I think that this quote is important because a lot of people will do anything for success. And yes, a lot of them will be successful, but I don't think that it will be fulfilling to them.  I think that dreaming is such an important aspect that should forever be a part of our lives. If we don't dream, we won't have goals. Dreaming is like a shimmer of light in a world that can be a very dark place. If we do not have goals and dreams, we wouldn't have successful people in life...
